Will Microsoft Offer the Online Version of Office for Free?

Microsoft used to have a practical monopoly on word processing. Since the introduction and market acceptance of free alternatives like OpenOffice, Google Docs, and Zoho, things have changed a lot for Microsoft.

Rumors have been flying, addressing how Microsoft will react to the new competitors. One of the most interesting has been revolving around whether Microsoft Office will turn free.

Great news folks. It ain't a rumor any longer (maybe)! Fortune Magazine reports that Microsoft will announce a free, online version of Microsoft Office to be available next year.

Looking forward to it? Leave a comment to share your enthusiasm with the world! :)

Google Giving Away 250,000 Free Business Cards

Google is Giving away 250,000 FREE business cards.

The first 10,000 people to order each receive 25 business cards highlighting their Google Profile. You have to have a Google Profile to be eligible for the free business cards. Of course, that's free too. Even better than being eligible for these fun cards, creating this Google Profile will help you better control what people find when they search Google for your name.

The process of ordering these cards is quick, easy, and a little fun. Ordering mine took about 3 minutes. If you beat my time, leave a comment :). Below are some screenshots of the flow.

Thanks Google! This free business card giveaway is a fun way to introduce a new feature. :) Looking forward to receiving these in the mail (Free Shipping, as well - lol - they just keep on giving back!).

Get yours now by heading to http://www.google.com/profiles/me/bizcards.

If you're looking for other free business cards (without Google affiliation), we have a few offers on Qmania that might fit the bill. Enjoy. :)

Facebook Driving More Traffic than Google (for Some)

Social media is becoming a more powerful driver of traffic than Google for many high authority sites on the web. It seems surprising at first, since web users go to search engines like Google to decide where visit next, while they usually head to Social Media sites like Facebook to hang out and share photos, videos, and thoughts. It's even more surprising considering that Facebook receives about a third of Google's traffic (50 million vs. 149 million in January, per ComScore).

Some of the big name sites receiving more traffic from Facebook than from Google include PerezHiltion.com, Evite.com, Tagged.com and even Twitter.com!

Although it's still early in the development of this trend, it's clear that Social Media has become a serious platform for growing your a website's traffic and providing real value to web users.

If you're looking to increase traffic to your website, enabling and encouraging people to share your content with their networks is key. Boiled down, if you give web users a great thing to share, and tools to share it, they will likely share it.

Keeping that in mind, we've ensured all deals posted on Qmania can easily be shared on Social Media sites like Facebook and Twitter. As Social Media continues to find its place in the online world, we'll be there to continue providing you tools to get the word out on your most buzzworthy deals.

Thanks for reading. We'll be sure to keep you updated on this trend and how Qmania is adapting to it as the trend evolves.
