Long Beach City manager Pat West is trying to put together a series of bike friendly lanes to connect Downtown Long Beach to Belmont Shore. One idea being talked about is putting a bike lane on Broadway and Third St, right through the heart of downtown.
We are all trying to save gas and be eco-friendly, and the City of Long Beach is trying to help make that idea a reality. The project is aiming to get started in the Summer. Funding has already been arranged through grants.
We're a buzz over the recent move of TED and BIL to LBC. Welcome to Long Beach!
TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) is an invitation-only event where the world's leading thinkers and doers gather to find inspiration. They've outgrown Monterey, and are heading to Long Beach from now on! Yea!
BIL is a newer "un-conference" alternative. It's a self-organizing event brought to you some of the worlds most creative cats. You might have heard about it on NPR, in Wired, from Scoble, or through another media source.
We're planning to build density for the conferences. We'll be contacting a bunch of great local businesses in Long Beach and Los Angeles, to provide the best deals for the most creative conferences coming through the area. If you're coming, we'd love to hear where you'd like to see deals in the area.
For those of you (of which there are many) that thought the "Q" from Qmania stood for great onion rings at one of our favorite local bars, we have good news for you. You couldn't have been more right. Well, maybe if you fancied yourself as Mr. Right like Mickey Avalon you could be more right.
We were so happy to see that our Qmania Mind Melt Trick has worked on the staff at Pike Restaurant and Bar here in Long Beach. They had NO idea that we were controlling their tattooed minds to create some tasty Qmania shaped onion rings. Talks about tasty treats!
Will you see Pike deals here on Qmania soon. Let us look into our magic 8-ball and we'll get back to you.
The good word going around town is that Qmania is going to be giving away some gear at the upcoming Gold Sprints here in Long Beach at Alex's Bar. While the racers are trying to keep their fixed gear riggs from flying off of the rollers, DJs will be spinning and beer will be flowing.
We're not sure what sorts of Qmania hook-ups we'll be giving out, but you can be sure that they'll be sick.
This begs the question: Why don't we have Alex's Bar deals on Qmania? We have Bici Concepts deals. Sounds like we need to get this local watering hole on board.
If the text on the flyer is too small, we've typed it below so that you don't go blind from squinting:
We'll be there from 12:30pm for a few hours supporting the racers and just kicking it. Come hang with us.
For those of you that are interested in the history of this type of event, we've posted a video for you. Rumor has it that the name is tied to a German beer manufacturer that makes a product called Goldlager or something like that. The name stuck. Check out the original video of this from 1999.

Many companies look for experience when it comes to people who graduated from college. With the help of college students who are ambitious to helping their career paths, Qmania brings up the challenge for American Marketing Association chapters to simulate a marketing campaign and actually see their work live and in play. Not only are their works going to be made public, but this gives them the opportunity to network with local business owners and classmates, to have something to present using their portfolios when they're in interviews, and lastly, to become part of something special and to be the first to do so!
Perhaps you might have been referred by AMA to come to Qmania.
